Don’t be brow beaten. A short guide for eyebrows care.

Away with strays: Keep brows in trim by tweezing out any stray hairs from beneath the natural arch. Tweeze sharply in the direction in which the hair grows. If the area becomes slightly reddened, pat on some soothing antiseptic cream on it after some time. Always tweeze at least fifteen minutes before you apply make-up, to give time for the flush to die down.

The perfect brow: If you hold a pencil upright against your nose with the blunt end close to the outer edge of your nostril, the tip of the pencil will point to where your browline should begin. Now slowly swivel the pencil until the tip crosses to the extreme outer edge of your eye. This is the point where your brow should end.

Coming to grips with tweezers: It is important to choose the right type of tweezer for your purpose. It comes in various designs, ordinary-grip and scissor-grip with three types of tips that is straight-across, diagonal and spoon-shaped. The straight-across design seems to get a better hold on the hair. And the diagonal one copes with really obstinate stubble.

The gentle touch: If your eyebrows are sparse, don’t be too heavy-handed with eyebrow pencils, as nothing looks harsher and more unnatural then it. If your brows are thin or need color, try this trick instead. Blot your mascara brush (the wand-type is best) on a tissue until it feels dry; stroke it across your brows in the opposite direction to which they grow, and then use it to brush your brows back into shape.

Closing In: For wide-apart brows, the secret is to create an illusion of closeness, by shading in eyeshadow, right up to the sides of your nose, thereby compensating for a lack of brow.
